Crochet blanket
A few years back I’d moved to a new place. It was bigger and more spacious, compared to the little room I was renting before. Once I’d settled in, I decided to make the place more cosy. At the same time, I wanted to keep my hands busy. That’s how a crochet blanket project was born.
I knew I would need a lot of yarn, so in search of something cheap (new place, new job… kind of being on the low budget at that time) I visited a nearby charity shop. There I found some Cygnet DK acrylic yarn in a large variety of colors. I started small, just a few colors, as I wasn’t sure yet how I wanted it to look. I had decided to go with granny squares. The pattern came from an old crochet magazine for a cardigan I was planning to make someday. Well, I’ve made a huge crochet blanket instead.
I’ve managed to dig out some old photos from the time when I was working on this blanket 🙂
As some colors were quite dark, I decided to mix them up with lighter shades and turn it into a kind of chessboard-like pattern. I did try to avoid adding similar colors next to each other. Took me some planning and shuffling colors around, but I’m happy how it turned out at the end.
Once I was happy with the size I added crochet dark border around it. I used dark navy yarn. I think it provided a nice contrast to the colors.
Crochet cushions
After finishing the blanket, I had plenty of yarn left. Enough to make some cushion covers. Both covers are made with the same crochet pattern but one of them is on the reverse side. I think they look interesting.
I will be happy to hear your thoughts 🙂 If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to post in comments.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote
the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a
few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is
excellent blog. An excellent read. I’ll certainly be back.
